So - usually I would be posting on something that made me happy or something fun/interesting. Today's post has nothing to do with any of that. Today's subject? The GRE - aka: The Graduate Record Examinations. The thought of going to graduate school has been kicking around in my brain since I started working. I mean, work really has not lived up to anything that I imagined myself doing... it's mostly just a tired corporate routine peppered with an occasional bit of excitement when a new project comes along or the opportunity to meet a Congressman arises. So, naturally, I am considering graduate school in order to pursue a completely different career - one that I think I will be a million times more passionate about and much better suited for.Unfortunately, in order to get into a graduate school program - I have to take the GREs. I used to be a whiz at standardized tests. The SAT barely phased me... heck, I even had to take some standardized tests to get into my high school! But that was way back when - my memorization skills were second to none and I had a ton of free time to study prep books and make myself flash cards. Oh how times have changed.
I bought a book from the Princeton Review - Cracking the GRE 2009 Edition. I figured it would be the best way to get an idea of what stuff I wouldn't have to really study up on and what stuff I'm out of touch with. Enter the MATH SECTION. I'm screwed. Math has never been my thing to begin with... I don't like it and I clearly didn't retain any of what I was forced to learn in school! I was flipping through the book - just checking out what kind of problems I might have to do and realized that I am going to have to re-learn a LOT of math (example below). Sigh. If anyone knows how to do this stuff - help me now!

I guess I'm really going to have to get studying. :(
